News for Lawful Permanent Residents seeking to Remove Conditions on their green cards
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS or "Immigration") has recently been taking a long time to process Petitions to Remove Conditions on Residence. These petitions must be filed for immigrants who received their green card through their spouse but at the time of receipt, had been married less than 2 years.
Normally in the past, USCIS generated a receipt for the applicant extending their residency status for 12 months while the applicant awaited a decision on their Petition to Remove Conditions. Unfortunately, USCIS was taking longer than 12 months to adjudicate these petitions. As of June 11, 2018, USCIS will be issuing receipts with an extension of status for 18 months.
If you have currently have conditional residency, it is critical to file the Petition to Remove Conditions timely. Let us help you do it right by making an appointment with us today!
